I just celebrated my 31st birthday. I had some really great friends kidnap me and take me out for a more personal (smaller) birthday gathering. All I was told was that I had to dress up nice...i.e. like I was going to a wedding but we were definitely NOT going to a wedding. We celebrated in a beautiful park (bridge and creek included) with candles, 31 balloons, bum pillows (cause I DEFINITELY need those!!), yummy food, a brownie/raspberry pyramid cake, laughter, and good friends. Oh yes, and I can't forget the singing...I asked that it not happen, but my wish wasn't obeyed. Yes...I have good friends. Thanks guys! :)

(The evil genius who helped put this together..along w/ Jamie-kins who ironically was not in this pic with us)
For those of you who still live in the 'Singles Ward Arena' you will understand what turning 31 REALLY means to a still single person. It means we 'graduate' for a completely different reason other than marriage. Actually, it's more like a 'fail but we're gonna push you forward instead of holding you back cause we can't continue to keep you in this holding pattern any longer' type situation. So basically it's NOT like grade school. They DON'T keep you til you get it right, aka 'pass'.
Ironically my new bishop told me he wasn't going to 'allow' me to leave the ward no matter how old I was. Kinda nice. Unfortunately I was just told today that the Stake Pres just told him it's a no go for us oldies to continue staying on. Sad business. I guess my decisions been made for me. I no longer need to decide whether I want to stay or not (which is what I've been doing). I guess, however, I will stay as long as they will let me so that I can finish my calling in the Presidency. It's gonna be strange going to a home ward again (cause I'm not gonna lie... there's no way I'm going to the 31+ yr old ward). No thanks! I already get 50 yr olds hittin' on me in stores, etc etc. I don't need em doing that on a continual basis in church. So, I will thankfully take my leave soon and gracefully take my post as primary teacher (a calling I absolutely loved). On to a new chapter in my life. Apparently it's about that time. :)

Glad you had a great birthday. And who decides what "pass/fail" means in life. I think you are an amazing person passing through your life with all A's!
